WE even have a puppet now.

WE are the candy apple jazz band.

pay us what you think we're worth.

We began not so long ago, in the streets in May 2015, when long-time best friends, puppeteer Ben Lee (vocals, banjo) and idea man Kasey Dean Sikora (trumpet) expanded their social empowerment busking duo into a quartet, bringing in theater maker Sasha Theodora (vocals, washboard, bass drum) and free improviser Andy Dolgin (vocals, trombone, sousaphone). After only two months of playing together, already gaining momentum, a few members went to study music and work on other artistic/humanitarian ventures in Bulgaria, Italy, Greece and Turkey. The band stayed on hiatus until they returned to Toronto 9 months later.

In May of 2016,  we debuted our first EP: "Professor Andy Dolgin’s Medicinal Tonic & Jazz Band", introducing a turn-of-the-century medicine show.

After a total of 6 months together, in June, we embarked on a 3 week European tour in Eastern Europe and the Mediterranean, with dates, festivals, and street shows in Italy, Bulgaria, Serbia, and Romania (Revolution Festival, Timișoara)

Since then, we have expanded to include hypnotist Gabriel Kerekes (clarinet) , and sometimes Ben Barrett Forrest on viola when he's not the art director for the Globe and Mail.

Notably in our short time together we've have had some pretty memorable moments like; some members playing at EKO refugee camp in Greece directly after tour, media appearances on CP24, Jazz.FM91, a documentary called "BUSKERS" (not yet aired) and youtube children's show "Sing Along with Tobee"(airing in September) and  performances at BuskerFest TO, Clay and Paper's annual "Night of Dread" and after parties at the Toronto Symphony Orchestra.

Up next for us is a new album to be released in April 2017:

"From the Hot Club of Gutterland"

we need money.

"Candy Apple Jazz Band brings a party with them where ever they go - the joy and fun they exude when performing is infectious, and had our crowds dancing along into the night!"

Mackenzie Muldoon, Marketing and Entertainment Director, BuskerFest  TO for Epilepsy

"With a revivalist hot jazz punk fervor, Candy Apple Jazz Band easily sets feet a stompin’ and hands a clappin’ in whatever performance setting they find themselves in. We love the raw, big hearteded energy of these musical rabble rousers and how they bring their own mix of theatrical antics and infectious fun to the streets of Toronto. You don't want to have a party

without them.
